Our Leader Couple Training Experience ... and the first meeting with our new MCG

     We are Josey and Beth Varberg, a couple from northern Minnesota, who have recently completed the WCI Leader Couple Training Course.  Josey and I are parents of five amazing kids - ages 19 months to nearly 14 years old - and have been married 17 years.   We learned about The Rule gradually over the last year, and were so happy to find that there was a Leader Couple Training scheduled for Winter 2025.  We were so excited, and yet a little uncertain about what we were getting into!  However, we continued to follow the path that the Lord was putting in front of us, one step at a time.  

     Josey and I thoroughly enjoyed the Leader Couple Training experience.  Initially, we felt slightly concerned about how these online sessions would fit into our busy family schedule.  Amazingly, the times were all on Tuesday evenings, which was perfect for us.  Josey and I felt an instant connection with our Mentor Couple, Ian and Kayla, as well as the other two couples in our online group.  We also enjoyed the three training sessions online -  both the content and hearing from other couples across the country.  It was so amazing to be connected with fellow married couples, striving to grow in our faith and our marriages.

     When it was time to begin asking married couples in our area to join our new Married Couples Group (MCG), we turned to prayer and asked the Holy Spirit to help us know where to begin.  We identified a few couples from church and began to extend invitations to get together for dinner and to discuss the idea of an MCG.  It felt a little out of our comfort zone at first, but the invitations were received so beautifully.  The first couple that we asked said “Yes!” right on the spot. They, too, were looking for community and support.  This gave us the courage to continue to respond to the path on which the Lord was leading us. Over the next month or so, we asked three other couples to join us. Two of these couples also said yes. 

     We had our first official meeting this past week (May 2025).  It was a very blessed and joyful evening!  It has been such a blessing to experience the fruits of The Rule in our marriage.  We are so excited to share this journey with our new MCG and see what wonderful things that the Holy Spirit has in store for them, as well as our local church community.
